Dave Ingles - July 28, 2012, 4:47 pm
Only just heard as I live in Spain now. To lose such talent and intelligence is sad, but when combined with Spud's sense of humour it's tragic.

David Reed - July 17, 2012, 8:05 pm
I was very sad to hear of Spud's passing at such an early age. I haven't seen him for many years, but will never forget some great laughs with him, Leroy and Dave Lowe at The Lamp, The Three Crowns and the old JBs. A great musician and great fun.

Brett Huckfield - July 12, 2012, 8:22 am
When Leroy phoned me with the tragic news, I was shocked and deeply saddened to find out you were no longer with us, Spud!

Though I seldom saw you after those Modern Music guitar shop days, the memories I have of those times – the gigs, the hilarious nights in the Snooker Club, JB’s and The Lamp, are priceless!

And what a musician you were: two decades on I can still recall songs from your set: they were so memorable – the mark of a first class songwriter. Your great music, excellent voice and superb musicianship never quite took you to the dizzy heights of fame that you deserved, but even so you were one of the greats, mate!

Sorry Teresa, and everyone, that I couldn’t make it to the funeral, unfortunately I was out of the West Mids. at the time, but my thoughts are with you x

Every gig was like it was your last ans we loved you for it. Mooney's was never the same again, espeically for your favourite bar top backing dancers!! A truly fantastic musician, a truly fantastic man. Much love to all his family and especially Teresa. From all the McAuliffe's, Wolverhampton.

A GENT AND A LEGEND ,R I P SPUD

Mark Terry - July 3, 2012, 10:06 pm
I was lucky enough to know Spud when he roadied for Sweet Jesus. I have many fond memories of those days, and particularly remember Spud's relentless mickey taking and huge laugh. He was responsible for an event I still talk about to this day. He talked me into doing the lighting at a Sweet Jesus gig up in Manchester. With no idea what I was doing, I hit the wrong button and turned all the stage lights off and couldn't get them back on. It wouldnt have been so bad but it also happened to be the very first gig Oasis ever played and it was reviewed in Melody Maker. I got my own special mention for the lights 'taking the piss'. Thanks Spud. Gone but never forgotten.
